Volkswagen (VLKAY.PK) says it will build its new Golf line in Mexico as part of a goal to increase its presence on the continent. The automaker set a goal of selling over 1M cars a year in the U.S. alone by 2016, up from last year's level of 596K.

The last German to utter that sentiment was Cortez, and we know how that ended. With a Spanish-speaking minority displacing the indigenous people!

  • My previous Jetta GLX VR6 assembled in Mexico with parts from Germany, England, U.S.A. went 316,000 miles and it was a comfortable solid handling great car NEVER ever left me stranded in 316,000 miles! GERMAN ENGINEERING, and it felt great on the highways and byways, perfect tracking and handling, great supportive seats. Current GTI is flawless, and even BETTER, handling and pep! My next one is a Golf R! If it ain't GERMAN, it ain't a car. After about 11 or more VW products since 1987, I'm sold, only VW stuff, Audi included.
