Friday, January 25, 10:59 AM ETIf the Keystone pipeline is approved, analysts are more interested in Canadian oil producers and refiners along the Gulf of Mexico that can process the heavy stuff flowing south than in TransCanada (TRP) and rival pipeline operator Enbridge (ENB), whose gains are priced in. RBC likes SU, CNQ, BTE and MEGEF.PK, while Edward Jones prefers CVE, IMO, XOM, PSX and VLO along with SU.

My humble apologies to the Canadians for the Americans poor decision to reelect anti-domestic energy Obama. His actions prove his energy policy is Arab Oil.
For the environmentalists out there I ask what is the gain if more clean middle east oil is shipped to the US and more dirty Canadian oil is shipped to China? CO2 doesn't respect geographical boundaries and in the end there would be greater emissions for transportation plus the risk of a spill in the ocean is greater and more damaging than that of a leaky pipe.
Mr. Kerry divested himself of his stock to avoid any perception (what this is all about) of a conflict of interest. If he truly dumped the Suncor stock for environmental reasons why would he have owned at all? This is all about perception. Keystone will happen because rejecting it is absurd.
Regarding XL's environmental impacts, it's been hard for me to understand how one can (on the one hand) exaggerate the risks of pipeline skills,; underestimate our ability to mitigate these risks through engineering, oversight and enforcement; AND be blind to the aggregate spill risks of rail and motor vehicle transport.
Sooo <for what it's worth>, this pilgrim believes that the administration will find a way that displeases all parties while allowing the oil to flow.
And PLEASE, guys & gals, let's try a bit harder to be civil in our use of language.
Even crazier yet is the trend of forcing USA refiners to adhere to stricter and stricter rediculous environmental standards.
Eventually refiners will determine that it is more advantageous to refine their products in countries with little or NO environmental oversight... no EPA, no DEP, no OSHA, no unions..... etc.
This NIMBY-ism mentality is flawed because we all live on the same planet.
I'd rather trust refining to the USA, who does it as cleanly as possible, even at great expense, ethically and most importantly SAFELY.
