He points out that drug failure rates are lower than with human medicines, as there are fewer safety concerns and because animals don't live as long. "Side effects are very rare in our industry, especially in livestock," Alaix says. Zoetis had a stonking NYSE debut on Friday, jumping 19% to close at $31.01 for a market cap of $15.51B.
