I don't know why they would do this, Netflix recently said that the PS3 was the number 1 device for streaming. And you have to pay for Xbox Live, then pay for Redbox Instant to use the service. But then again when NFLX was starting out they had a similar deal with Xbox, but shipped out discs so that you could stream on other consoles, while not breaking their Microsoft agreement.

Where does it say you need a paid subscript to xbox live to use the redbox instant streaming? I dont think you need to pay for xbox live to use the Netflix app.

Yeah you need a subscription for all of the apps on the 360.

this sounds like an arab wedding. Xbox can sleep with everyone, but Redbox Instant can only play on an Xbox "console" (I guess that only rules out PS3 and Wii as polygamy prospects). Given that streaming is a scale business, where subscriber aggregation drives all the economic and operating leverage, why would it make sense for Verizon not to seek to maximize distribution. Before I call it a "stupid" strategy I will just call it a typical Verizon "bell head" strategy instead.
