US Airways (LCC) and AMR Corp. (AAMRQ.PK) are just a few key details away from inking a merger agreement, reports the WSJ. The current deal under discussion would be an all-stock transaction with American Airlines creditors getting 72% of the combined entity and US Air shareholders the rest. American's key creditors are on board, say sources, making a merger highly likely.

  • Finish up this deal. Horton should non-exec chairman and Parker should the show. First thing Parker should do is scrap that new paint scheme...terrible!

  • Looking at (UAL), it surged before its merger and has been flat since.

Will (LCC) follow a similar pattern? It has already surged.

  • The irony of this deal is that, contrary to U.S. Airways buying bankrupt American, these terms results in the reverse.
