Tuesday, February 12, 6:40 PM ETNew York state's decision to lift its ban on fracking faces further delay after officials conducting a key health impact study asked for more time. The move will push back the publication of the state's environmental report, which in turn will delay the drafting of Gov. Cuomo's drilling regulations, possibly forcing a re-start of the regulatory process, which could hold up the process for months.

For once we should be pleased at the snails pace of government.
Could it just be political? Ya think?
Cuomo has shown himself to be pro-nat gas and in my opinion is a flat out AWESOME governor.
You can't make any stink stick. Don't even try.
The wells in Pennsylvania were not contaminated by Natural Gas. The EPA and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection tested the wells. The gas in the wells was methane, not the ethane that comes from Natural Gas. The "documentary" was a lie.
Again I say, fracking has been used since 1947, on 10s of 1000s of wells, and we are only hearing rumors of problems now? 65 years later? And you don't think some crooked politics is involved? Really?
Cuomo had indicated his lean to allow fracking from the get go. He allowed the studies because it was the right thing to do. And he has moved to lift the ban now.
You are frothing at the mouth rabid trying to prove there is some kind of conspiracy going on here, and you are way, way, WAY out in left field.
Disclosure: I am a Cuomo fan, and I am a NYS resident. I bet you aren't even a NYS resident and barely know the details of how this has played out.
As a point of fact, in spite of a few Republican governors, the perpetually Democrat control of Albany has kept the the economy of NYS above NYC, in a condition of recession forever.
Environmental impact reports are required for zoning, housing, for everything.
How you can completely belittle the import of environmental impact studies on a project of the proportion of Marcellus drilling is beyond me.
