    The planned commodification of the Star Wars franchise by Disney (DIS -0.1%) poses very little threat to overexposure, according to ebullient Hollywood insiders. Though examples of oversaturation litter the scrapyard of movie studios, Disney is sitting on a gold mine. Director Kevin Smith on Star Wars: "It's now as American as baseball and apple pie and as universal as Coca-Cola."

    Star Wars, as a great franchise, died when they first introduced us to Ewoks. The latest three installments were not Star Wars - they were... something else.

    They're coming out with new toys a year or two before a new movie! Give me a break.

    Sci-fi for the pre-teens is what it is now. Like Elmo or Spongebob.

    Wow! Clearly you don't have kids. Star Wars got a huge bump with espisode 1,2, and 3 and the clone war cartoons with the lego franchise and video games have been amazing. I'm 40 and can't wait for the new saga. I have been wondering why they have waited so long. A move every couple of years will keep the interest their and disney can support in their parks and merchandising. It was a great buy and makes the stock a potnetial winner even at recent price.

    Like I said - sci-fi for young kids. Ep 4 & 5, and to a lesser extent, Ep 6 were great films. The commercializing of the franchise, especially with so many unnecessary add-on characters (toy potential) ruined it. Ep 3 was somewhat redeeming, but Ep 1 & 2 were pure, unadulterated garbage.

    But great for kids (yes, have one, 13 years old)! I'll definitely see the upcoming movies, but will stop watching as soon as I get that muppet vibe again.
