Hughes made his fortune taking storage out of the mom-and-pop space, and is looking to do the same with single-family rentals. His American Homes 4 Rent is now the country's 2nd largest SFH owner, behind Blackstone. One pure-play, Silver Bay (SBY) is up 17.3% since its December IPO.
