Anglo American Platinum (AGPPY.PK) has suspended production at all its South African operations...

  • Tuesday, February 19, 6:06 AM ET
Anglo American Platinum (AGPPY.PK) has suspended production at all its South African operations today due to wildcat strikes after at least 13 people were injured in inter-union violence at one of its mines yesterday. The stoppage follows violent industry wide strikes last year, which cost the mining industry 15B rand ($1.68B) of lost revenue, and comes ahead of wage talks. Platinum futures +0.9%.

  • I have run into info that appears no where else at Bloomberg also.
Ask them where they get the info, I have never gotten a response.
Credibility is not high on their list. Like Seeking Alpha, it is a take it or leave it crowd; occasionally providing highly spun or slanted info.

This instance with Anglo American and Platinum was likely received from the local South African news wire; probably the local financial
section. Or a common local source they will never admit to.

So when you run into this kind of situation, go read the local on line newspapers. If you do not get a substantiation there, something fishy or slanted is probably going on.
