Criminal charges against Chevron (CVX), Transocean (RIG) and employees over the 2011 Frade oil...

    Criminal charges against Chevron (CVX), Transocean (RIG) and employees over the 2011 Frade oil spill have been dropped by a Brazil judge, Reuters reports. Last March, a Brazilian prosecutor filed criminal charges against the companies and employees of both, including CVX's former Brazil unit president.

  • This would also be positive for Petrobras (PBR), since many of the rigs they contract are operated by Transocean (RIG). It removes some uncertainty over future offshore operations in Brazil.

  • Brazil has done everything in their power to destroy PBR and anyone who has an interest in drilling for oil... their exploration future is dim in spite of the tens of billions of crude that they sit on
