Market recap: Investors decided the market had overreacted to the Fed's more hawkish comments, helping stocks rebound from their two-day slump. Little weekend anxiety was evident over the Italian election, and sentiment was boosted by better than expected results from H-P and an upbeat report on German business confidence. But the S&P lost ground for the week, breaking a seven-week winning streak.

The market didn't overreact to the Fed. It was a mild downturn based on headline news (a couple, few, many, oh gosh......on the FOMC might behead Dr. B). But, it is a testament to how fragile all markets are at these levels to negative news. So far, it has only provided short term buying opportunities on the dip (at least in US stocks). It is a nice exercise for feedback, my guess is the folks on FOMC thought so.

The fed is turning the market into a spoiled and self-indulgent brat that throws a tantrum every time a mild issue is raised with its tendency to be out of touch with reality. And then, is rewarded for throwing the tantrum. In the long run that does not breed strength.

Central banks all over the world seem to have forgotten that the stock market is not the same thing as the economy.
