The world might soon be given yet another music streaming service: the FT reports Google (GOOG) is talking with music studios about a service that (like Spotify) offers access to a library on both a subscription and free/ad-supported basis. Google's music efforts have seen modest success (at best) thus far, but its willingness to subsidize content and ability to provide YouTube/Vevo integration could help it out. Pandora (P +3.2%), which tanked more than once on reports of an Apple streaming service, is thus far unchanged AH.

  • Really?? Google and Facebook, can't control everything Internet. Google is already getting farther behind the curve with YouTube. They should be focusing on becoming a bigger Internet content distribution player.

It is great hearing all the speculation regarding the leading Internet companies being able to do everything though. In the end, they mostly fail or acquire the niche-focused business.

  • I am going to have to check out SykesVR3D. Thank You. On You tube, most of the sound quality, well sucks, but I have found a few channels that actually sound good. One is MetalGuruMessiah/ This channel has solid visuals and the sound reproduction is also very good. Genesis's "Ripples" is uploaded from an SACD transfer. Steve Miller's" FLY Like An Eagle" opening intro has depth from the original quad mix. I have been picking up F.Z."s DSD based reissues that are out now from the Zappa Family. I am always in hopes that kids and people alike get a taste of what music is supposed to sound like. Check out Passion Pit's "Carried Away" on Vevo, it doesn't sound all that bad. I am still a long time everyone in the studio analog type of guy. Joe Walsh's "Funk 49" also has some sound quality to it from LFDH, on You Tube. I am going to check this out and give some sound comparisons, I hope I am blown away. Thanks.
