More on Smith & Wesson (SWHC): FQ3 beats across the board as demand for guns continues to soar. Net profit more than tripled on a 39% surge in sales. The company says its plant has operated at full capacity for the last four quarters, yet still, the gun maker couldn't meet demand across all its firearm product lines. For the current quarter, it expects to earn $0.38 to $0.40 a share on sales of $165M to $170M, above analysts estimates of $0.30 on revenue of $155M, and also raised its FY outlook to $1.17 to $1.19 on sales of $575M to $580M. Despite the solid quarter, investors are taking some profit, as the stock is -2.7% AH.

  • That explains why the US is #1 in gun related killings in the Western world. Go USA! Look at Australia what happens if you make guns less available.

  • First, let me just say I support the 2nd amendment. That being said, I won't own again because statistics show my own gun is more likely to be used on me or my loved ones. With violent crime at historic lows, what's the point.

  • Optionmaniac- that stat has been debunked. May want to do more research.Evidently, the gun owners were never asked about other guns being used in the incidents. But no problem not owning one. The problem I have using it for defense is if you are going to take all the precautions of not keeping it loaded, and keeping it locked up, then what is the point of having the gun. I doubt if the perpetrator is going to wait until you unlock the cabinet and load it.
Truffle- just how Australia doing? Because England has a lot of violent crime, burglary and muggings essentially making people prisoners in their homes.

  • My hands would be shaking so much I'd never get the gun loaded in time!!
Throw in suicides and the stats go my way. Suicide is a very spontaneous act. Briton put the drug of choice for suicides in blister packs instead of 150 in a bottle. Just that barrier cut the number of suicides.
All that being said, everyone has a right to own a gun.

  • That's all you need. Don't really have to aim it, shells are easy to load. Biden was right, you hear a noise in the house, step on the porch and blast with two barrels in the air. Reload and wait for the crook to come tearing out of the house.
