Tuesday, March 12, 6:15 PM ETGoogle (GOOG) has bought DNNresearch, a startup leveraging neural networks to improve voice/image search. The purchase appears to be an "acqui-hire" - DNNresearch doesn't have any products, but it does have Prof. Geoffrey Hinton, a renowned neural network expert. Google has long had an interest in using neural networks to analyze content not easily handled by traditional search algorithms.
