Google (GOOG) is doubling the size of its office space near Seattle and ramping up the hiring of cloud-technology engineers as it looks to take on Amazon (AMZN) Web Services and Microsoft's (MSFT) Azure. Separately, the company has come to an agreement with 38 states to pay $7M to settle accusations that it breached people's privacy with the "drive-by data collection" of personal information when mapping Street View.

  • 38 States and 7 million.Does this cover the State's legal expenses? This is less than WMT paid to grease a few store openings in Mexico !

Gees, they still have the data.. What is that ? About 2 cents per household ? Less ? It's darn well worth it for GOOG.

Nice when a Mr. Schmit goes to Washington. Connections ?

    HA !

  • I see AMZN's share price popping per this news. Heck, this is the routine, every piece of bad news and pps goes up. Lower margins, lowering 2013 growth estimates, more competition, higher costs ... you name it. AMZN - the online Enron.
