Monday, August 29, 2011, 11:55 AM ETLighting Science and Dixon Technologies India plan to sell a 60-watt equivalent LED bulb for less than $15. Given that similar bulbs now sell for about $40, this would represent a major pricing advance for LED lighting. LED chipmakers such as CREE and LEDS, who have struggled in 2011, are banking on higher lighting penetration rates to fuel growth.

Yeah, I know. Both the $40-dollar bulb and the $16-dollar bulb will last 10 times as long. Look me up when it sells for $2.50 and when I can dispose of it without getting a permit from the EPA.
