    Bank of America's (BAC) difficulties could mean gains for smaller players like PNC, U.S. Bancorp (USB), and Toronto-Dominion (TD). These lenders can pick up market share as well as assets on the cheap that BofA is unloading. "Whoever is most aggressive ... will benefit," says Chris Thornberg.

  • History, this has been happening for two years now and the even smaller community banks, at least those who are healthy, are growing nicely.

  • This is exactly how capitalism is supposed to work. Instead of using taxpayer money to sustain inefficient, ineffective and incompetent institutions we need to let them fail.

    Better managed firms will step in to meet the demand and the industry becomes stronger as a result. The bailouts actually made our financial system weaker.

    The Bush and Obama bailouts were simple acts of cowardice.
