    Ovum expects the market for public (externally hosted) cloud services to grow at a 29.4% annual rate from 2011 to 2016, eventually reaching a size of $66B. The markets for IaaS cloud solutions such as those from AMZN and RAX, and PaaS solutions such as CRM's Force.com, are expected to grow even faster. (also)

  • Did we read the same article? The article says "In terms of the cloud computing service lines, software as a service (SaaS) will shrink from 87 percent of the market in 2011 to 62 percent in 2016 ". For those unfamiliar with jargon - CRM (aka Salesforce) is a SaaS.
    Amazona nd Google are different, they are cloud platform providers. These will grow,as the article states and I agree with that.
    I am tired of people who don't understand IT pushing momo stocks like CRM, just because they call themselves "cloud". There is a cloud and a cloud, you know?

  • The article also said the overall market will more than triple. If you assume CRM's SaaS business grows in line with the broader SaaS market, that still implies a doubling of sales. And then there's the Force.com PaaS business to take into account.
