"I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product," proclaimed Steve Jobs, according to a biography due out Monday. Jobs, who also criticized other Google (GOOG) products, reportedly had no interest in agreeing to a licensing payoff. Based on recent legal briefs, it looks as if Apple (AAPL) is maintaining Jobs' hard-line stance in its patent disputes.

  • Google is clearly trying to pull a "microsoft" on Apple with Android. Steve Jobs was justified to get infuriated. If he were alive and well, Google could not have made too much inroad against Apple.

  • All this bickering just enriches the lawyers and stifles innovation.

    Patent reform is needed.

  • How is this decision stifling innovation??

HTC will now have to devise something of their own.

  • Which phone had multi-touch, a full not-distilled-for-mobile web browser, the iPhone's intuitive physical metaphor UI, pinching and zooming before 2007?

And which phone designer had the balls to tell the networks to stuff it? Jobs told the networks you'll like our phone on our terms, or you'll drown in the wake of your competition. Are you implying Eric Schmidt did that?
