According to his biographer, Steve Jobs dreamed of building an Apple (AAPL) television set, and claimed he had "finally cracked" the problem of developing a simple user interface freeing users from dealing with "complex remotes." Rumors that Apple is working on a revolutionary TV set have popped up frequently (I, II, III). (earlier)

  • I think TV can be much better. If I could push and play with content from any device to any other device in my home I would be pretty happy. I think that this is the hit TV, something connected to every media device without pain. Why do you need a new TV for that? All you need is a device to connect to a TV right? Wrong, how many remotes do you have? The remote is a big issue, control and connection. Where AAPL always wins is giving us something that just does what we wanted all along. This is going to mean Music, Video, Gaming, Information not centralized in one place, but able to access, receive & interact with content from all devices on all devices. That said, if that's not what AAPL introduces and they have some other item that only makes a somewhat better TV experience for AAPL hardware users...that would be pretty bad...

The other thing is the Apple universe is all about being all in. You don't get an apple product and then stop there, you get one, then the item that works perfectly with it, and then the next until you are all in. So far for better.

  • catalysts are abundant. the recent selling of aapl shares is due to
the fact that traders are afraid of each other. no one who studies
this company could see aapl's "miss" as anything other than a
buying opportunity. when appl's logo is on every device in their
living room, these sellers will not be wearing a happy face. the
current share price represents a rare opportunity for investors.
