  • Your Apple Questions Answered! 15 comments
    Jan 24, 2013 10:27 AM | about stocks: AAPL

In the coming days, I will have reached over 2,000 followers on Seeking Alpha. It is a milestone I am very proud of, and it wouldn't be possible without all of my dedicated readers, some of who don't follow me (that's fine too!).

As many of you know, I love to cover Apple (AAPL). Several of my most popular and best articles have covered Apple. It's a fun company to analyze and something I enjoy doing. My latest Apple article, on the stock's fall after earnings, is linked below.

Apple's Earnings Fall is Completely Unjustified

Both in the comments section of this article, comments sections of my previous Apple articles, as well as personal messages, I have received a lot of questions about Apple. While I have given quick one or two sentence answers when possible, some of these questions need more in-depth analysis and answering.

So to celebrate my milestone and thank my readers/followers, my next Apple article, scheduled for roughly Feb. 7, will be entirely based off your questions! That's right, I will use the article to answer a variety of Apple questions. I already have some questions on my list that I would like to explore, but I need more. I can't promise that I'll get to all of them, but I'll do my best. So in the comments section below, please submit your questions, and I'll get back to them in about two weeks.

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours.

  • Do you see Apple doing a stock split in the future?

  • That's a very interesting one. I promise an answer to that one - although it might not be in the Feb 7th one. I plan to address that particular issue in my one for the following week, probably Feb 14, which is something I've already planned out.

  • With all the talk of gross margin deterioration, I'd like to see what their gross margins have looked like historically, say over the last ten-15 years.

  • I'm doing a more short-term focus on gross margins, only because every few years there are reclassifications in terms of what does and doesn't count for revenues and other items, which can mean certain results now don't compare to all previous results.

  • As much as I want to buy Apple around $430, the equity market is already high enough to make some people nervous. With a beta of 1.21, Apple can go much lower if the market correct itself.
    What do you think, Bill?

  • I think if the market does go into some sort of 5-10% correction, Apple will be hit. Will discuss more over the next few weeks.

  • What product uveilings/big announcements do you see in 2013 and how will they affect the stock price? What is your best guess as to how the stock price wil play out in 2013? Your best guess as to the stock's high in 2013? As a holder of Jan 2014 call options, the stock's high in 2013 is the $50k question:)
Man, do I regret buying them though(so far).

  • Thanks for all of the questions! Keep them coming in, as I will try to answer as many as possible.

One added note. Due to a severe cold that's knocked me out for 3 days, I am now targeting Monday the 11th for the release of this article. This will allow a few more questions to come in as well as give me a little extra time to provide some good analysis.
