  • Is Rhodium the New Copper? 1 comment

Perhaps (story here)... until the Rhodium ETF comes out.  In a world where its increasingly harder to find commodities not influenced by "financial innovation" + easy money Ben Bernanke's free handouts to investment banks, trying to figure out real demand in commodities affected only by (wait for it) supply and demand, is a good thing.

Nice to know you can enter the market as an aggregate. Look at kitco.com and check out the rhodium sponge on offer. You can buy it now, but I am seriously bearish on Rh and have been now since the "Flash Crash" during 1H 2010.

Rh price relies heavily on auto industry. If a black swan event occurs in the auto industry, like massive +30-40% layoffs or complete shutdown, you can bet your ass that Rh is going to tank and not by a little bit. Remember, not so long ago it was >$10,000/oz clear all the way down to <$800/oz.

Don't think for a second that it cannot happen. There is a very good chance that this cycle will repeat itself during the next and most brutal leg down in the markets.
