  • Microsoft Windows 7 - FINALLY - A real challenge for Apple 5 comments

    During the last few days I had a chance to play with Microsoft Windows 7.

    A few years ago I switched to Ubuntu and later to Mac and "cursed" Microsoft, like everyone else ;-)

    I was really REALLY surprised by the new Windows 7. This new operating system had a WOW! effect on me! 

    IMHO - it acts and feels like Vista should have been in the first place. Its all very VERY slick, very fast, much more intuitive than Vista, MODEST and simple.

    It really changes my opinion on where Microsoft is heading. I really hope that its a sign for a good change that will stream creative competition between Microsoft, (mainly) Apple, Ubuntu and the coming Google OS (maybe?). It seems that we, users, are going to enjoy it.

    Way to go, Microsoft Windows Team!

    It will be a good competitor to OS X. I think Windows 7's new taskbar is way better than Dock and more user-friendly. Lets see if Apple would come up with a better Dock+Expose solution in their upcoming Snow Leopard release.

    There is no way in the world windows 7 will compete with OS X , simply because of Terminal.app and the fact that it is POSIX compliant (it's *nixy).

    But nice try :-)

    Man, I am a developer and I love the terminal, but who else cares? Microsoft CAN do it. They just need to concentrate. All in all people treat it like a religion and this what bothers the companies at the end.

    Both Apple and Microsoft hire the smartest people around,
    be SURE Microsoft will surprise us, the Apple addicted.

    PS - Microsoft, if you're reading this, I'd really love it if you switched your Kernel to Unix ;-)
