This is a wonderful piece on Ajit Jain who runs Berkshire Hathaway's (BRK.B, BRK.A) mammoth reinsurance business. Jain is my prediction for Buffett's successor for whatever that is worth. The reasoning for this is the man is clearly an exceptional talent, and Jain has proven that he is loyal and he has the passion for Berkshire Hathaway from his long history with the company that makes him the right guy. Jain has had numerous opportunities to make more money elsewhere but he has stuck with Buffett and Berkshire, and logic tells me that deep down he knows that he is the right guy to succeed as CEO. Matt Rose is another solid candidate but I believe Buffett sees a lot more of himself in Jain, as the ability to analyze risks in a variety of different arenas is paramount in the reinsurance business, and I think that translates well to what is required as CEO of Berkshire.
