Another food for thought open to discuss. I've been following this company for a little over a year now. I was first intrigued by it's dividend. Over the last year it's been pretty flat for the most part with a drop to around 19ish I think. From what I've been seeing I believe it's a bulls' play now and should show us some healthy gains over the next 6 months to a year. I believe it was debt issues that contributed to it's recent decline in price as well as some issues with Brazilian currency and economy. But the Brazilian economy is expected to become a factor over the next year. I think it's expected to grow at a rapid pace and believe that CPL has positioned itself well to ride the wave. The recent quarter was not overwhelmingly great at first look but when you see how they've spent their money.. That's where it's nice. They have been investing in their business and setting a solid stage for growth. There are some worries I believe of rivers drying up.. Or uncontrollable setbacks in the future but.. I'd say they've planned for what needs to be planned for and it may be worth a close eye or an entry soon. I read once these stocks move fast when they start going, and 2013 should be a promising year for them. Another food for thought on this is that energy companies are all ways needed.. Utility companies are not a bad idea I think and alternative energy should be a great play in the coming years. Look around and let me know if anything catches your eye. Will First Solar(fslr) ever be a $300 company again? I wish I knew.. But then I'd be the one making the sun too and I wouldn't be investing.
Disclosure: I am long CPL.
Additional disclosure: Keeping a close eye on solar stocks.
