    I'm prepping a new article, and for fun ran some filters through FINVIZ's stock screener. The filters are what I would want in an ideal investment - not necessarily any guarantees, but some indication of performance & worth.

    The criteria:

    • Year to Date and Latest Quarter Performance should be positive
    • Return on Equity, Investment and Assets should be > 0
    • Current Ratio should be > 1
    • Net Profit Margin should be > 0
    • Yield should be > 10%

    The dividend yield filter is, of course completely arbitrary. All of the other filters are minimally what I would expect of a good investment: that it be effectively managed, not in debt over its head, making a profit and trending fairly consistently upwards.

    Guess what? Only eight companies (in FINVIZ's universe) satisfied these criteria. To discover the one that I have in my portfolio, and that I have written about, just go to this link:
