Euro drifts lower below 1.35….may the correction has begun.

Germany's consumer confidence is seen rising to another post-crisis high in October, the GfK Group reported Wednesday, joining with businesses and investors in showing growing optimism in the prospects for the Eurozone's largest economy. The GfK's key consumer climate index likely rose to 7.1 in October, while the September index was also revised up 0.1 point to 7.0.

Swiss UBS consumption indicator down. The indicator fell to 1.32 index points in August from 1.41 previously. UBS does not regard this as grounds for diverging from the recently raised forecasts for the Swiss economy, since private consumption is likely to continue growing robustly and to remain the most important pillar of the economy.

U.S. stocks fell for a fourth day amid concerns over budget talks and economic growth as investors weighed prospects for easing tensions in the Middle East.

The Conference Board US Consumer Confidence Index falls. The Index now stands at 79.7, down from 81.8 in August.

China's economy slowed this quarter as growth in manufacturing and transportation weakened in contrast with official signs of an expansion pickup, a private survey showed. Increases in business-investment and real estate revenue also slowed, while service industries picked up and employees became tougher to find

RBA Financial Review: The main risks to the global financial system have shifted somewhat over the past six months. In the euro area, which has been a significant source of uncertainty in recent times, there have been some positive policy developments as well as early signs of an improved economic outlook. However, profitability of the euro area banking system remains weak and non-performing loan ratios continue to rise. A number of banks in the euro area still cannot access wholesale funding markets. Thus there is still a chance that negative outcomes in that region could harm global financial stability. Financial market volatility has increased, particularly in the middle of the year when the Federal Reserve indicated that it could begin scaling back its asset purchase program later this year, which triggered a rise in yields and declines in prices of a range of risk assets. The Australian banking system continues to perform relatively well. Banks were in a good position to meet the Basel III capital requirements.
