Wal Mart - WMT - can always be used as a shining example for the mood of the American Consumer.Through all of the hoopla surrounding Black Friday or in this case,Black Thursday I set out in the evening to witness first hand the circus.I should have known the night was different by the tailgating drivers one mile from our destination.Looking in the rear-view mirror I spotted a car load of wild-eyed humans that looked a lot like space creatures. As I pulled into the Parking lot my eyes were met by thousands of cars with people wandering mesmerized by the Wal Mart logo on the building. In the distance I observed a long line of " customers " waiting to enter as police car lights cast an eerie glow on dazed faces.Since my passenger only was thinking of buying a new electric razor,he quickly said he did not need it at this exact moment.Since I was with my wife and young daughter,I had never entertained the thought of even getting out of the car.The laughter was of the nervous variety as we began to look for a way out of the chaos. Before we left two men were spotted carrying a T.V. out to black pick-up truck.Their faces were wide with smiles as they obviously had won the right to purchase a one hundred dollar television.I wondered what was going through their minds at that precise moment? Was this Pyrrhic Victory a culmination of years wandering in the wilderness of economic destitution with a glance back at better days? With the amount of cars in the parking lot last night, the American Consumer might be back on track to a better future.Or at least watching the circus with a clearer screen.I would watch this development very closely if you trade stocks for a living.

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours.
