    ETF Trends:

The Market Vectors Vietnam ETF has rallied up 31% year to date to lead the emerging markets category. Vietnamese stocks have become more attractive to foreign investors due to enticing valuations and improved liquidity in local stock markets.

The valuations for Vietnamese stocks are attractive, as recent Bloomberg data cited that the VN Index trades at 11.2 times estimated earnings, which is 7.4% below the average valuation for the MSCI Frontier Markets Index, reports Victories Stilwell for Bloomberg.

So far I have done well by playing this through the Vietnam Opportunity Fund (up over 30%). The Fund still trades at a significant discount to NAV. I would buy it as the fund managers continue to seek to shrink the discount and the wind is in the sails for Vietnam so far in 2013.

    Disclosure: I am long OTCPK:VCVOF.

    And I didn't bought it....sadly.
Just like PJSC Novorossiysk and Italian Thai...and some more. Missed a few rides last 4 months. I've got itching fingers.

Vietnam's Stock Market Year In Review, Bull Market Ahead

First of a 2 or 3 part interview with Dragon Capital.

By the by John, that was the quote my grandfather told me his stock broker used to tell him all the time in the 1950s when he would tell his broker all the stocks he wanted to by: "You can't kiss all the pretty girls..."

Nice to see someone else using it !

Author’s reply » Read the Forbes article, it was good. I like how you are getting interviews with people in country. This is much better than the usual hash that I read. Looking forward to more articles like that. I got that quote about kissing all the girls from Doug Casey.

Doug's not that old, is he?\

No need to respond, just said it for a laugh. I think the second part of the Dragon Capital interview will be a bit better. It's an interesting market.

Here's all three parts of the interview now. I'll have a follow-up next week on Seeking Alpha regarding retail options for investing in Vietnam

    Part 1 -
    Part 2 -
    Part 3 -

Plan to plug you in the Seeking Alpha article John, though my seat-of-my-pants data didn't come out entirely in accord with your investment vehicle choice (though I think your choice is likely the correct one long-term).

Still haven't quite figured out why PXP is trouncing every other fund listed in London (except they must be using options or futures to have kept going up since April 1, 2013, when the market went flat... or they're amazing traders).
