As at 17 March, both the Specialty Chemical and Financials portfolios seem to be tracking the index and are highly correlated in terms of active return.

Last week, I added a Pharmaceuticals portfolio to the mix on the basis that that sector had not advanced relative to others, and that it had a historical performance lag which might be exploitable. Its performance has been assisted by a high level of out performance in three of the nine stocks. I am quite happy to sit back and see how the other stocks develop.

Next week is one for my "Bucket List" which is to visit outback South Australia and especially flying around Lake Eyre. Historically, flooding of Lake Eyre is a once in a generation event, but it has now happened 3 years in a row. Statistically, it may not happen again for 50 years, and I have determined not to miss it. The amount of bird life in what is usually inhospitable desert is quite remarkable. There, I have done my bit for the embattled Australian tourism industry.
