I'm a well-informed retail investor and post on SA in order to expose my thought process to critical examination and comment from readers. It makes me a better investor. I'm particularly proud of bullish macro articles posted in 2009 and later, in which I presented ideas that encouraged me to... More

Keeping notes of my investment activity on a daily basis, it is interesting to see what I was doing a thinking a year ago at the bottom. I use ACT!, a contact manager. Here are my notes from 3/9/2009:

    bought 500 HTCH @ 1.40

Directors are buying, thought I would average down a bit here. This brings me up to 3,500 shares. BV is down to 16.91 per share but still leaves a lot of upside if the business is in point of fact viable.

    Bought 100 TESS @ 5.60

MBI - Form 4's for Warburg Pincus, Kew Song Lee and david Coulter, the same 2,700,000 shares, acquired 2/5 and 2/6 at around 2.50 per share. This is getting serious, if MBIA continued to buy during this quarer, and then you have Warburg picking up more, things could start getting mighty tight for short-sellers.

MBI listed as a top gainer with low friction - it takes very few shares bought to incerase the price. That would be about elasticity of demand - higher prices don't elicit more supply..
