  • Cramer says sell AIG - should you? 0 comments
May 15, 2009 1:15 AM | about stocks: AIG, BRCD, YHOO, TKLC

Cramer said on his "Mad Money" show to sell AIG. Should you?

Before I answer this question let me elaborate why I am bringing up Cramer in this post.

I like the guy! I think he is extremely entertaining and he has made some great recommendations and gives some good solid advice. He has his downsides the most infamous of which is where he urged his listeners to buy/hold Bear Stearns just before its collapse from $40-plus to zero. There are a few other similar incidents. However, of all the people I see on CNBC I think that Cramer has some of the deepest wisdom to offer which you can catch only if you listen carefully. Sometimes you have to repeat what he said a few times in your head to get it right.

Now Cramer has called a few equities from my tech portfolio as his favorites in his recent shows. The three he praised recently with a strong Buy are Brocade Communications, Tekelec Inc and most recently Yahoo, Inc. His reasons are the fundamentals behind the stocks and my reasons are purely charts and technial metrics. I liked the technicals and then looked up the fundamentals and liked what I saw. I had them on my portfolio before Cramer touted them. Brocade has also been on Slumdog Millionaire portfolio for sometime now.

In today's show Cramer said sell AIG! He gave several good reasons why. However, AIG is right now a Buy on Weekly charts and a highly volatile bouncing stock on the Daily charts. It is very difficult to derail a stock that has a Buy on weekly charts from its forward momentum. Let us see if Cramer can do so! My bet is against Cramer. Check back here in a week and we will see where AIG stands!
