  • VIASPACE Inc. (VSPC) And The World's Greatest Power Plant 0 comments
    May 13, 2013 2:45 PM | about stocks: VSPC

When considering the world's greatest power plant, it's natural to think of China's new Three Gorges Dam hydroelectric plant, the biggest power plant in the world, capable of generating over 20,000 megawatts. But it may turn out that the world's greatest power plant is really a plant, Giant King Grass (GKG), a one-of-a-kind power producing plant that could end up being used to generate power all over the world.

GKG is a proprietary dedicated energy crop controlled by VIASPACE, a California based renewable energy company. When it comes to power potential, GKG is considered the greatest plant in the world, primarily because it is recognized as the world's highest yielding biomass crop, a plant that grows so fast it can be harvested several times a year without replanting. As a result, it is more cost effective than other renewable energy sources, outshining solar and even wind power.

The plant's cost effectiveness is enhanced when considering the fact that GKG does not require significant new infrastructure or the risk involved in new technologies. It's a simple combustible fuel, like coal, but is carbon clean. Since GKG absorbs as much carbon during growing as is released during combustion, its net carbon footprint is near zero. And, unlike wind and solar, it can be ramped up to produce peak power whenever it is needed, night or day, in any kind of weather.

In addition to being cost effective and carbon clean, GKG is also non-invasive, and can grow on marginal lands not useful for food production. It grows best in tropical conditions, but can be pelletized and shipped, just like oil, to augment and reduce the carbon footprint of coal powered plants all over the world, meeting a growing demand for low carbon power. It can even be converted into bio-fuels, such as green gasoline and hydrocarbon based materials.
