Yesterday, Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. announced that it has welcomed a new Vice President, General Sales Manager for its outdoor branch, Marty Shapiro. Effective immediately, Shapiro will oversee Clear Channel Outdoor’s inventory throughout New York’s five boroughs, Westchester County, Hudson Valley and the New Jersey Digital Outdoor Network. He will be reporting to Harry Coghlan, President and General Manager of the New York division.
Commenting on his new colleague, Coghlan remarked, “We are very excited to have someone with Marty’s long and diverse media sales background join the Clear Channel Outdoor team. His experience and expertise will help take the New York branch to the next level.”
With him, Shapiro brings extensive sales experience. He served as both Senior Vice President of International Sales for Petry Media and Managing Director of Petry Sports & Entertainment, where he developed its international rep business. In his tenure, Shapiro also cultivated the Sports & Entertainment practice . Previously, he spent almost a decade at CNN International in the role of Vice President for North American ad sales, where he oversaw ad sales, marketing and research for all of CNN’s international networks, websites and digital properties.
Before he joined the international media community, Shapiro was a prominent figure in sports sponsorship sales that included Madison Square Garden, Florida’s Sunshine Sports and Ted Turner’s 1998 Goodwill Games. He has served as Chairman of the International Advertising Association (IAA) Global Marketing Summit for four years, and currently serves on the board of directors for the IAA’s New York chapter. He holds a B.S. in political science at Colgate University and a M.S. in sports management from Adelphi University.
“I am thrilled to be joining the out-of-home industry at a time when audience measurement is undergoing such a revolutionary change, especially with the advent of Eyes On, which will surely become the game changer for this industry.
