Put me in charge Written by a 21 year old female - No free ride

This was written by a 21 year old female who gets it. It's her future she's
worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big
government state that she's being forced to live in!

These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.
This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco , TX Nov 18, 2010

    Put me in charge . . .

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash
for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans,
blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want
steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.. The first thing I'd do is to get women
Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test
recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and
piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats
and piercings, then get a job.. Ever live in a military barracks?
You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your
"home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be
inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your
    own place.

Put me in charge of Medicaid

Put me in charge of government housing

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or
you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of
trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We
will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo
and speakers and put that money toward the "common good.."

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of
the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you
say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider
that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing
absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least
attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system
rewards them for continuing to make bad choices., you no longer can VOTE! Yes that
is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will
voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov't
welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job. Now, if you have the
    guts - PASS IT ON...

AND While you are on Gov't subsistence

Maybe a little harsh but chances are that this would turn some around.

This makes sense, but you have to know someone there to get in to repair the damage that has already been done for decades. They will not let you do what you suggest because some of their familie are receiving benefits too.

Gee Whiz!! What a wonderfully warm and caring young lady. Hope that when she's unemployed for any length of time she has a large bank account. Hope she's never seriously injured or has to help support ailing parents with her own money. Hope none of her children is born with a mental or physical problem that she has to pay for with her savings and by raiding her 401-k.

    Just so you know...

I was homeported in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Perfecture, Japan for almost a year and for most of the time lived with Hideiko Ichinose at 145 'something' road. During that time I was fortunate to learn many things from her and about Japanese society. Among those many things, I learned the Japanese do not look down upon those who are less fortunate, regardless of the reason. The nation has an excellent social-welfare network.

For example, if one has no money or skills or is physically or emotionally handicapped, the person or family is provided a free apartment, free food, free clothing and free medical care. The apartment size is based upon the number of people in the family, the food is provided at a nearby facility (think soup kitchen), clothing is made by prisoners in state penitentiaries or is donated (think Salvation Army), and medical care is by doctors and nurses paid by the state.

When one is living in a state provided apartment, the person is required to keep it clean and it is subject to inspection. If the person wants to change the colors, paint and brushes are provided. If the person doesn't like the clothing or food provided, he is provided a shovel or rake or other handtools and sent to work for the public works department cleaning parks, sidewalks, and streets, where he earns a minimal wage which gives him spending money.

It's a shame that so many people keep forwarding this clearly unbalanced information without a shred of knowledge of what they are doing. Do you know we are the ONLY industrialized nation that does NOT provide universal health care to it's citizens? Do you know we rate 21st in the world when it comes to providing a social-welfare and healthcare safety net to our citizens? Do you know we own nearly ninety percent of all assault-type weapons in the world? Do you know that a higher percentage of babies die during their first year of life in our nation than any European nation?

did you know that the US is regarded, almost universally, as having the finest healthcare in the world? did you know that the US is the #1 destination in the world for people who have a deadly disease and want the best chance to live? did you know that cancer survival rates in the US far exceed those in any other country, by far? what do you suppose all of this is true? because in the US, healthcare is a commodity, not a right. when you make it a right, quality goes down...a lot. this debate is not well served by making the pronouncement that we should switch to universal, government controlled healthcare. it ruins the incentive to practice medicine and quashes the drive to break new medical ground.
