  • Finisar (FNSR) Wins while Apple, Microsoft, Google, Motorola and Nokia Battle 0 comments
Feb 16, 2011 10:30 AM | about stocks: GE, AAPL, MSFT, NOK, FNSR, GOOG
It is hard to believe it has been nearly a year since I recommended Finisar here on SeekingAlpha at $12.89 and two years since I recommended FNSR and GE on InvestorHives.  Search my name and you will see I don't recommend many stocks in free articles.

This week, Finisar broke $45 before correcting where it is now available for $42.50. Back in 2009 I was happy FNSR gained 50% from my newsletter buy alert at 24¢ and wanted to tell others I thought it would go much higher, hence the article on a friend's website.
I've taken profits in BOTH GE and FNSR.  I continue to trade their ups and downs for added return, but I continue to hold and like both in my personal and newsletter portfolios as long-term investments too.  By trading their ups and downs, if we have a major correction or bear market, I have cash out now to buy shares back at much lower prices.  If they keep going higher, that is fine with me too.

When I have some time, I will try to expand this instablog post into a full article about why I still like FNSR (Hint:  it doesn't matter if Apple, MSFT/Nokia, Motorola  or Google win the smartphone OS battle, they will ALL need bandwidth provided by Finisar products.)
