    ProShares, one of the top issues of inverse ETFs, will initiate reverse splits for nine of its ETFs that will take effect on Wednesday April 14th. The ETFs will trade at the split-adjusted prices on April 15. Seven of the ETFs will be split 1-for-5 while the other will be split 1-for-10. Reverse splits reduce the number of shares outstanding while increasing the ETFs' prices.

    The ETFs subject to the 1-for-5 reverse splits are the UltraShort Oil & Gas ETF (NYSE: DUG), the UltraShort MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (NYSE: EEV), the UltraShort FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index (NYSE: FXP), the UltraShort Gold ETF (NYSE: GLL), the UltraShort Basic Materials ETF (NYSE: SMN), UltraShort Real Estate ETF (NYSE: SRS) and the Ultra Real Estate ProShares ETF (NYSE: URE).

    The Ultra Financials ProShares (NYSE: UYG) and the UltraShort Silver ProShares ETF (NYSE: ZSL) will be the ETFs split 1-for-10. If you own 100 shares of one of the ETFs that are being split 1-for-5, you will have 20 shares after the split. One hundred shares of UYG and ZSL will leave you with 10 shares after the split.
