  • Who Buys This Sort Of Junk? 1 comment

Check out this offering http://xml.10kwizard.com/filing_raw.php?repo=tenk&ipage=8152410&ds=2 from Credit Suisse (NYSE:CS). Who the heck is dumb enough to buy this? Is it just retail investors, or is there some sort of regulatory capital benefit for banks or insurance companies to own this muck? Yikes!

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours.

Almost certainly created for Swiss private banking (HNW) clients, possibly in Asia. The wealth managers and their clients love to brag about this stuff at art gallery showings, ignorant of all the massive spreads they are paying on exotic OTCs, while their derivs desk in NYC makes a mint off this stuff.
