  • FITX - Social Chatter 7 comments
    Apr 24, 2014 4:41 PM | about stocks: FITX

FITX is one of many stocks currently in the modern "gold rush" that is marijuana. We agree there is a rush into this sector disagree but with the color of the substance. There were clear buy signals on this stock in June and July of 2013. This stock has maintained a fairly high level of social chatter since January 1st of 2014 but just recently the toxic chatter has breached the threshold of social chatter. This, coupled with the general decrease in organic chatter is worrisome.

If a retail investor had strictly played the signals, which includes the sell in July of last year (can't be 100% perfect unfortunately), with an initial investment of $100.00 the return would have been $1500.00. Just strictly playing the chatter. Completely ignoring the company or any technical data.

Thank you for your analysis of these stocks and the correlation to "chatter." Please forgive me though, I am not an experienced trader by any means and am trying to incorporate your findings into trades that I make. Let me ask a question that hopefully doesn't embarrass me too much.. If I understand your logic, you sell when the toxic chatter surpasses the social chatter, but then do you buy as soon as the social chatter surpasses toxic? You never indicated when you would buy after the sells and where exactly the $1,500 came on the trades (day/rough purchase buy price would clarify)? Can you please explain this more clearly because some of the other graphs don't seem to be as clear? For instance, FROZ has toxic chatter from the get-go. Is this your sign to stay away all together or do you still consider once the tables turn?

Some additional questions, if you would:

You mentioned going to your website, can you provide the link?

You mention an IOS app - I was unable to find it. Can you provide the name or link to that as well?

You tagged TTDZ but I do not see a chatter graph for them. Could you please provide this?

Depends, on what strategy you are doing. An up-tick in both "positive" and "negative" chatter can be a signal to buy. What we call "toxic" chatter usually still drives the stock price upward.

When to sell is dependent upon your individual goals. For the example above here are the signal dates. You should be able to identify the individual signals from the chart:

    June 4th, 2013 - BUY
    June 25th, 2013 - SELL
    July 15th, 2013 - BUY
    April 15th, 2014 - SELL

Most likely a retail investor would have taken profits earlier than that. Also, a retail investor could have traded another way. For example, you could have played the sustained chatter, in which case the BUY signal was January 10 and sell March 15, 2014.

    "You mention an IOS app..."

The app can be found here.

It allows you to get data from Twitter but does nothing more than that. If you are a novel investor this may or may not be helpful. We are not in the business of advising just providing tools to get information. What information you want to get and/or how you use it is up to you.

Respect Gravity is currently debating what apps are of most use and what data is of most use to traders. So if you have suggestions you can tweet to @TellUsWhat2Do and a developer/analyst will review. If you follow this account be aware it is used for various projects; most are not stock related, and you may get tweets that do not interest you.

Yes, we can run another post on TTDZ.
