I was the 1st car dealer in the Tampa Bay area to sell cars on eBay in 1999. I often said that eBay brought honor to the car business back in those early days.

But unfortunatly starting around 2003 the scams came to eBay Motors. Between the Romanian phishermen and the dregs of the car business who found a use for the AOL floppy disks that were mass mailed to everyone, the scams started chipping away at the eBay cornerstone of trust Pierre had created.

The scams and fraud just kept getting worse and worse. eBay denied there was any serious fraud and what little there was was miniscule.

In 2004 i started a website called eBay Motors Sucks and started documenting the many car scams that were infecting eBay Motors.

10 Years later there is still fraud on eBay Motors. The most deadly scams are the XSS Redirect url where scammers hack someone's website and upload their scripts and images etc. They then go over to eBay to set their phishing traps and lay waiting for someone to swallow the hook.

In January 2014 eBay Motors UK was infested with these redirect scams. I produced several narrated screen videos showing both the redirect that took me off of the eBay website to a scammers controled hacked website where a duplicate of the eBay listing was loaded. If a prospective shopper didn't realize he was no longer on eBay he could get easily phished and loose his money.

I went back through my archives and wrote a post called Doc's eBayMotorsSucks 10 Year Anniversary Celebration. It's a good source of information. I suggest anyone that's an eBay investor read it.

Carl Icahn put it best by saying eBay has the worst corporate governance in corporate America.

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours.
