And so has the MTA. This implications for this condition cannot be overstated. Is there a permanent loss of subway service throughout New York City? What is the timeline for recovery? Is such a timeline achievable? How much money is the City talking...as well as New Jersey and Connecticut? Let's look at the current situation:

still looks awful...enough to effect the New York City economy for more than a few days?

looks like " back to the grind come Monday" with the only exception being Lower Manhattan.

blogs.wsj.com/law/2012/11/02/for-law-fir.../ looks like the contingency plans worked out....other than for the Court system which was completely shut down. "Opens Monday." So the problem it would appear is with the New Jersey Path train to Lower Manhattan and the condition of the World Trade Center site:

observer.com/2012/11/after-massive-flood.../ so Army Corps did yeoman work...always good to hear. Sounds like the Path Train to New Jersey is a disaster. Obviously we will know more come Monday as New York City gets up and running for business. If it turns out the New York City subway system is...as Governor Cuomo has stated "80% functional" then this could cause a big relief rally come Monday. Without a doubt Friday's selloff was caused by economic losses caused by a near total shutdown of the New York City subway system...the largest in the world. Clearly "more lessons learned" are in order as businesses centered in New York City adjust to a post 9/11 "normal chaos mode" of dealing with real disasters and not the "imagined next 9/11" ones. Hopefully a massive expansion of the Fire Department is in order...as they are the ones qualified to "pump the City clean." We shall see. Clearly whatever "disaster plan" there was wasn't even acknowledged to have existed...therefor it could not be acted upon. Obviously there is one...somewhere. Perhaps someone should dig it up for the Mayors, Governors, etc... next time? Too many people have clearly been in the same jobs for too long.
