  A cat in Iowa has just been confirmed as testing positive for the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus – the first time a cat has been diagnosed with this strain of influenza. Prior to this diagnosis, the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus had been found in humans, pigs, birds and ferrets.

  I know triple... everytime I hear Ferrets mentioned I think of two things... one was the doctor in the TV show Mash who the other guys called Ferret face. The other, strangly enough, and probably an indication of my sick memory, is that I have seen many articles about people stuffing a Ferret down their pants leg! Jsssssss

  I couldn't resist adding shares at eighty seven cents on Monday as the stock continued to slide. No news has been released to justify the recent price action, yet with so much possible news pending over the short to mid term, I couldn't help but add to my position of the stock near the low of the day.
  
  Over the years I have accumulated CVM with strictly a long term outlook, but the lower the stock slides, it becomes a decent short term play as well.
  
  According to this article, officials at Cel Sci will release an update on the H1N1 LEAPS program "very soon", and many longs of the stock have been 'long' awaiting an update. There are impatient investors out there who want to see the company respond to the day to day action of the stock price, but I'm the type that doesn't believe it should issue news unless it's 'quality' news; meaning no fluff.
  
  Remember, earlier this year I thought that Cel Sci was issuing some 'fluff' with the early swine flu PRs, but the one PR that indicated that the FDA had cleared the company to conduct some initial testing is the one that validated the 'LEAPS to potentially treat H1N1' platform, in my opinion.
  
  Additional news that should be released within the next couple of months regarding Cel Sci is the validation of the Baltimore area facility and the commencement of the Multikine Phase III trial.
  
  It's tough to predict day to day price action in a stock that is being played such as CVM, but I'm sure of one thing - the lower this one goes, the more I will buy.
  
  My ultimate horizon for investing in CVM is for the long term - to see how Multikine plays out - but there's enough potential news that could hit the wires over the short term that the impatient investor could also be quickly satisfied.

  CVM caught my attention about 2 weeks ago, at which point I jotted down a few notes and went zooming by.
  
  After I fell in with you lot here on SA, I had to go back and search out anything with an H1V1 connection, so CVM seemed to rise to the surface.
  
  I have not fully parsed all my notes from recent days, and there are other pharma companies in there. Just so everyone knows, I have a tendency to do what I call "beach combing", looking through the debris of storm-tossed industries and sectors. Babies that got tossed out with the bath water, as it were.

  Last time I heard of such a deal it involved selling 3 freighters full of furniture to Saudi Arabia...
  
  The baksheesh was pretty impressive back then, too.
  
  You have to wonder which is worse...
  
  A company that "plays the game" on the world stage, including dealings like this, and therefore ultimately gets a toe into the key markets...
  
  Or those that don't.
  
  This MIGHT NOT be evidence of corruption, but I strongly suspect that whoever Byron is, they have the necessary government contacts to "make things happen" in South Africa.

  I dont follow EWT or technicals, I look for info and this stock is not looking good on the info. The stock promoter for this company has had run ins with the SEC in the past. Another negative. I think I will just keep an eye on this one for a while. Boy the technology looks good however, that could make it more hype (hope) than fact for now. We shall see.

  Probably part of the reason the earlier run up in price did not hold.
  
  The Feds have already OK'd the LEAPS for swin flu applications.
  
  The other drug is still not proven, of course.
  
  If the application for LEAPS turns into a bread-winner, that would be the short term positive development - just being authorized for use and sale does not mean they will be making money, of course.
  
  I consider this stock a high risk investment, but with a large upside/downside ratio. Not hard for it to double in price in a few weeks, if circumstances break loose for LEAPS.
  
  The long-term prospects for Multikine is the iffy part - plenty iffy, imo, perhaps in direct proportion to the fascinating, even powerlful, idea underlying the drug. I WANT a drug like that to succeed - to exist - and that desire may be a subjective factor that distorts my judgement.
  
  LOL, this is always the case with really exciting potential technology - its easy to overlook the "potential" part, if you have an active imagination!

  That Street article Guns turned up on CVM was disturbing… I think we all love the promise, but if you really have something, why do dark side deals? Its on our Radar, so if something shows up we should be able to quickly react to positive factual news. I am going to take a wait and see on this as well.

  Actually, several instances of Tamiflu Resistant H1N1 strains have been popping up all over the place. This thing really does appear to have a great ability to modify itself. Another reason why its necessary to speed up the vaccine generation process.

In his book, he had a graph of the Constant Dollar Dow, He refered to it as his guide. The Bull move wouldn't end until the Constant Dollar Dow made All Time Highs. In 1987, the Dow had yet to achieve that Goal, when he tossed that Indicator away, I tossed him away. Granville became full of himself as well, he started predicting Eathquakes.
  
  So Im offering a truce with a Caveat, he will not be an exception. If "he will never be the same" from the last go around, he may as well get used to it.
  
  The idea is to help everyone, not to ingratiate yourself.

  The U.S. FDA issued BioCryst Pharmaceuticals (BCRX) emergency use authorization for its swine flu antiviral in October, but at that point a price had not been settled. In an interview with CNBC, CEO Jon Stonehouse declined to comment on his negotiations with the government, except to say that, "clearly a premium should be charged for those drugs that help people get out of the ICU quickly."
  
  Today BioCryst received its first government order for 10,000 courses of peramivir with a hefty $22.5 million price tag -- more than $2,000 per course.
  
  Stonehouse said, "We expect to complete production of approximately 120,000 additional courses of i.v. peramivir by the end of December, and we are prepared to produce more if required."   (November 5) H1N1 Masks Boost Firm
  
  On Oct. 27, the company reported $16.89 million in revenue for the third quarter compared with $10.22 million for the year-ago quarter. It reported 12 cents a share in earnings compared with 3 cents a year ago. The earnings beat analysts' estimates by 1 cent.
  
  The infection-control segment, which makes protective masks, continues to benefit from the H1N1 pandemic. The run rate of its N95 H1N1 masks is at $36 million and is at full capacity.
  
  Alpha Pro Tech (APT) is considering the addition of new N95 manufacturing lines, each capable of contributing $9 million in annual revenue. The company speculated that the H1N1 pandemic could last two to five years, which bodes well for an acceleration of its sales momentum through at least 2010. Gross margins should also see gradual improvement as its N95 mask revenues increase.

  Either way, I am going to look at BCRX, as I guess everyone will be.
  
  Did some more digging on the CVM article, now the company has sicced a lawyer on the author, who is standing pat.
  
  I haven't found out what price per share CVM gave Byron Biopharma when they cut that deal back in March (announcement went out March 9), but their stock was somewhere around .20 per share at the time, and I would expect that $750,000 check looked bigger then than it does now. The number in the article looks like a CURRENT valuation on that stock, which would of course include the assumption that somehow all parties KNEW for a certainty that one day soon the stock would go up from what we all know now was a really deep March bottom.
  
  This might undercut the article, UNLESS the price per share was a lot less than the market price, which is what he said happened at the time, or that the warrants issued were.

  I had no idea this thing could be around this long. This gives mutations a lot of room to run. It actually changes my entire perspective from short term to a much longer term. It's actually a game changer for these stocks if it actually hangs around and actually does have mutations over this period of time.

  The amount of hype over vaccine shortages is picking up. This can only be good for the stocks. Congress will have to answer to a very angry and very frightened public. Expect more high valued contracts and awards to materialize.

  Found the original 8K details for the CVM/Byron agreement.
  
  3.75million units @ $.20 ea, pretty much the going rate back then, but the kicker is 7.5million warrants (2:1 ratio to shares) @.25 share, exerciseable until 2016.
  
  LOL, I suspect CVM could sign the same deal today for a MUCH bigger payout, and with a lot fewer warrants.

  Maya, they both look interesting.
  At a quick glance I really like the big volume action in TAMO recently and at .60 it looks extremely enticing. But the insider buying in BQI makes me feel a lot more warm and cuddly. Your a hell of a stock picker Maya.

  Its nothing. I had zipped through all this (I think) before I decided to take in some CVM stock. I always figured it was a sweet deal for the marketer, though now that I think back to how nasty things were back in March, CVM was likely on death's door, and signed the deal for the cash, period.
  
  I suspect it kept their doors open just long enough to get that PR from the FDA for LEAPS.
  
  Did they sign a deal with the devil in South Africa to get that breathing space? Maybe. The earlier, similar marketing deals they cut in Israel/Turkey and with Orient Pharma (covering most of east Asia plus Australia, etc) I have not reviewed, but I bet they are not much different, except for the poor condition of the company and stock price at that particular low point in March.

  I added a graphic in the top portion of the Insta that contains the symbols of the stocks discussed and their corporate web sites.
  
  I wish it was a table so you could just just copy the ULR, but the table tool at SA is a mystery to me so far... I will try to get a table going over the weekend if I have time.

  Any idea what this indicates? The reason I ask is I'm unsure if that means all the numbers shown is up to a month old or ... ?

  I'm not seeing signs of covering yet. I suspect the shorters, that sold at a price well over $4, are awaiting the co report to see what happens. They have plenty of headroom to still profit, the potential of the report tanking the stock, 2 more weeks to opt. exp. Fri. and only 2.9(?) days to cover.
  
  I suspect they are "poised" but waiting right now.

  Its always been a multiYear horizon. The only way your going to contain it to any degree is through Vaccinations. To do so you are going to need a cple of Billion doses. The flu season hits different countries at different times of the year. What are you going to do. Quarantine those experiencing their reg. flu seasons?
  
  Besides, there are variants already in play, just because one type may be defeated some where doesn't mean they can't be reinfected with a different variant and with Billions infected, which was the WHO forecast months ago, Mutation is likely.
  
  This is going to extend far into the Future, H5N1 is the Wild Card.

  Freya, I wonder if it spontaneously mutates like the Andromeda Strain, or if the mutation occurs due to a failed intervention? For example, Tamiflu does not kill the virus, it retards its action. It seems to me that the act of not killing a virus, but retarding its action would be exactly the stimulus needed for a virus to rapidly mutate into another form. This notion seems to be supported by the large number of reports of H1N1 Tamiflu resistant mutations. If this was true, than the distribution of products like Tamiflu could increase the mutation rate and practically guarantee the survival of the now mutated virus.
  
  Of course, this is just a hypothesis, but it is a testable hypothesis. Even if it was not true, it would make an interesting plot for a science fiction movie.

  OG…. in Part 1 of the November concentrator I reported there is evidence that SW is hitting minorities harder…. there were also quite a few eyebrows raised over why there were so many deaths in Mexico from the SF….
  
  It should hit countries with lower health care infrastructures worse… particularly if the evil ones were to provide those countries with Tamiflu, which according to the script line causes it to mutate into a better killer, quicker…
  
  This could easily be worked into a story line…
  
  I can help write the script and sweep the floors…. I wonder if we can work the FED in too…

  Your thesis is supported in the bacterial arena. Antibiotic resistant strains of the most common bacterial infections have developed over the years when folks didn't take the full course prescribed by the doctors and when the doctors over-prescribed them.
  
  As resilient as virii are, if bacteria can do it I suspect virus can too.
