  • Hello Ilene!

I thought you might find these results interesting. To access the PDF, simply click download. It's safe - you have my word.

A handful of our members did very well with this specific recommendation, which of course I was very proud. :-)

Current market conditions are providing investors with some really good opportunities, like BIOS for example. For the record, I am neither long or short BIOS. It's just one example of the opportunities out there right now, and I just covered it in an article today.

Hope all is well in your neighborhood!

  • Ilene:

Seasonally, biotech (IBB) was clearly out of favor during the summer. Throughout the summer, I have made several buy recommendations.

A number of small cap drug makers were sold off during the summer and created some very good opportunities. In addition to CYPB, I also recommended GTXI on the first day (can't recall exact date) it hit $2.00. Now, GTXI is trading above $3.

Of the 33 sell recommendations I made at Rx Investors, 65% were made during June and July and in the eye of the correction. Although there were some losers, nearly 80% of the 33 sell recommendations were profitable.

I recommended Natural Gas 6 stocks in addition to UNG back on June 1.

During the downturn, I alerted members at Rx Investor to DNO (US Short Oil) and UUP (Bullish US Dollar). It appears both MIGTHT be done - at least for now.

In addition to small cap drug makers and Natural Gas, I have recommended fertilizer and bioplastic makers along with a few other areas that I cannot recall without looking.

    Looking Ahead (big picture)
Both IBB and GLD - SHOULD - perform well during August and September. So, I believe certain biotech plays will do well in the near future.

    Long-Term 2011-2012
I like and am long SPPI, which I have covered extensively here at SA.

Hope all this makes some sense!

  • BTW, what is your take on the new options that expire each week.

Not sure whether you or someone you know has traded these contracts, but are you at least familiar with them?

  • Author’s reply » Hi Justin,

I'm not familiar with options that expire each week. Seems kind of risky to buy those. I'll ask though and see if anyone I'm working with has more thoughts on the subject.

  • I agree with you. These options are way too risky for me.

I was just curious what others were thinking. Personally, I think this is a very bad idea as it could create even more volatility. In doing so, we drift even further away from the fundamental reasons why we should invest in businesses. It's reckless.
