Nokia invests 250 Million USD in the Nokia Growth Partners Funds

I recently posted a commentary on Nokia´s last week earning call, where I mentioned that it was somehow logical that the Finnish decided against a dividend payment for this year. I connected the decision to the Telecom and IT industries, where Cash functions as a competitive asset.

The press release from today confirms my previous statements. Doing some research each one of us could easily find information about NGP and what it stands for.

"We invest in companies, firms, and people that are changing the face of mobility, communications, and the internet. We invest independently and offer companies global engagement opportunities."

This investment from Nokia somehow justifies their decision from last week regarding the dividend. Just as Warren Buffet never has paid any dividend to his Berkshire shareholders because he sees better growth opportunities, Nokia has in this case followed the same concept.

    Disclosure: I am long NOK.
