 One must look at what is news on the state level to understand what will go on -- or more specifically -- what the federal government has done -- to manipulate the actions of states, their citizens, and, obviously, markets.

Sample One -- The Dakotas.  Oh, there are so few people here.  North and South Dakota may have to combine.

Response:  People of the Dakotas, worrying about their financial security, move to other parts of the country where there "are" jobs.

Then Bakken.  Wow.  Here in the Dakotas there is an awful lot of oil to be drilled using shale tech from Canada.

Shame all those people moved and lucky for us we came in and bought up lots and lots of property and mineral rights after they left.

Hey, the Dakotas NOW don't have to consolidate into one state.
