I am an independent investor blogging at Scott's Investments (http://scottsinvestments.blogspot.com/). My site focuses on consolidating and tracking free online investment resources for the public with an emphasis on ETFs, portfolio strategies, and macroeconomics.
Below is a list of the 20 best performing "high yield" ETFs over the past 6 months. ETFs were ranked by 6 month performance and were required to have a 3% minimum dividend yield.
The list for the middle of October has a strong global theme -nearly all of the ETFs on the list have signficant exposure to companies outside of the US. There are several momentum strategies one could potentially consider, from purchasing ETFs based on 6 month performance to purchasing ETFs trading at 52 week highs to using MarketClub Trade Triangles or just screening for those trading above their 200 day moving average. I detail some of these idea in more depth on Scott's Investments.

The 200-day SMA column indicates the percent the ETF is trading above/below its current 200 day simple moving average, a strategy I detail frequently and inspired in part by Tom Lydon, author of The ETF Trend Following Playbook: Profiting from Trends in Bull or Bear Markets with Exchange Traded Funds
, and Mebane Faber, author of The Ivy Portfolio: How to Invest Like the Top Endowments and Avoid Bear Markets
