    As part of our earnings seasons review over at Seasonal Odds we take a look at how Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) and Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) typically perform in January. While the markets usually face a difficult January overall, Hewlett-Packard has historically proven a positive outlier, eking out a 0.66% gain on average in January over the last 5 years, compared to a 1.51% loss in the S&P 500. Dell, however, declines alongside the overall market, losing an average of .97% in January over the last 5 years.
