  • NOKIA: GOOD START FOR Lumia 920 In The Launch 8 comments
    Nov 19, 2012 2:08 PM | about stocks: NOK

As you know, Nokia has recently launched Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 (at AT&T) and Nokia Lumia 822 (at Verizon) and Nokia Lumia 810 (at T-Mobile).

NOKIA: GOOD START FOR Lumia 920 in the launch - ABG

(Bloomberg) Nokia's flagship model, WP8 phone Lumia 920, has received a good start to its launch phase, according to a number of unofficial reports. This model has sold out in most places.

It writes ABG Sundal Collier in a market letter on Monday.

"Lumia 920 attracts interest satisfies the early users and
helping to revive the brand, "writes ABG Sundal Collier.

In the U.S. the Lumia 920 the best selling phone at AT & T, better than Samsung popular Galaxy S3. In Australia, the model is out of pre-order before launch on 29 November.

ABG Sundal Collier also believes that Nokia in mid-2013 may be ready to launch WP8-Models in price range 150-200 dollars and then be able to use their massive distribution network in new growth markets.

It seems that NOKIA CEO Stephen Elops view has been confirmed - Nokia Lumia 920 sells very well. But note that CEO Stephen Elop spoke positively about all WP8 phones including the ones I initially mentioned.

(Bloomberg) Nokia is so far, in general, satisfied with the sale of
the company's smartphones based on the new operating system Windows Phone 8, WP8.

It said Nokia CEO Stephen Elop on Wednesday, at a meeting arranged by Morgan Stanley in Barcelona, writes Bloomberg.

No change in the relationship with Microsoft is planned, he said further.

    Disclosure: I am long NOK.

Author’s reply » This is the German Facebook page showing that it is data from Nokia about Lumia 920 sold out in Germany

In my opinion, easy to figure out when you look at how Apple has failed in the country.

    Author’s reply » Nokia is number 1, 2, (before Samsung Galaxy SII and SIII) 5, 14, 19 and 20 at Amazon toppselling-list

That means Nokia got 30% of the number on the 20 toppselling-list.

Author’s reply » According to Walmart’s order page, when you try and order a Nokia Lumia 822 the order will only “Ship when Available”, implying that the retailer is sold out.

The statement continues, saying that “Due to overwhelming demand the nationwide supply of the Nokia Lumia 822 +4G LTE is limited” and that orders “will be reserved and shipped when available.”

Author’s reply » Before the weekend, nearly all shops at AT&T had the black and white Lumia 920 in stock. (I do check NY). Did noticed that the black version did also show up as sold out today, monday.

As of 11/23/12, any AT&T store within an 8 mile radius of mid-town Manhattan is sold out of black Lumia 920's. Yes, the Black Friday price of $49 is a $50 discount to the regular price of $99, but the AT&T 2-year basic voice+data contract costs $1600 over the life of the contract and unlimited texting is another $500 (for a total of $2100), so the up-front price is a sweetener but not decisive, given that the Iphone 5 with the same contract terms is only $199.

Author’s reply » NOKIA Lumia smartphones to be sold at Microsoft stores?

At least they'll be advertised, I think they will be selling directly or that Nokia will have its mall stores outside

Thx Finance, pretty good pieces of news here.

However I would be careful with this sold out thing, coz it can be linked with a small inventory. Any info that the reassortment is managed correctly would be a true good news.
