Statistics Norway reported an export of 15,024 metric tonnes of fresh/chilled and frozen farmed salmon from Norwegian salmon farmers in week 29, 2012. On a rolling average four week basis volume in tonnes exported were up 19.1% (2,631 tonnes) on the same period last year.
The weighted average price per kilo for the week was NOK 26.54 and was down 13.1% YoY on a rolling average four week basis.
The value of exports for the week was NOK 398.665 million, an increase of 3.5% (NOK 15.123 million) on last year on a rolling average four week basis.
The trend reported in previous weeks continues along the same lines with a substantial increase in volume on last year and a decline in price. As a result, the value of exports also continues to increase on last year, but less significantly than in previous weeks. The percentage increase in tonnes exported as of week 29 (rolling four week basis) was again the lowest since week 50 in 2011. Prices are still declining compared to same period last year at about the same pace as last week. The value of exports increased YoY for the 8th week in a row (on a rolling four week basis).
