    Over the past 12 weeks, gold and silver prices have spiked and declined.  The SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) has gone from $150.25 on July 8 to $183.59 on August 22 to a current price of $158.06.  iShares Silver Trust (SLV) has followed a similar trajectory going from $35.75 on July 8 to $42.63 on August 22 to a $28.91 this past Friday.  The net effect is that GLD is up about 5% while SLV is down about 19%.  The results for gold and silver mining companies are equally varied as noted below:

    One can clearly see that some stocks are up and others are down.  Furthemore, there are companies that are primarily gold mining that are down with others up.  Most the companies focused primarily on silver mining are down a comparable amount.  PAAS is down 14.5% and SLW is down 16.4%.
